Get to know Lone Star UMC

Since 1940 our church has existed in our community to teach the word of God and disciple believers in their daily Christian life. We believe in ministry for all ages which is why you can find an active Children’s, Youth, and Adult ministry in action every week in our church. We hope that you would consider joining us for Worship or Bible Study.

What happens on Sundays?

Like most churches, Sunday is our main ministry day at Lone Star UMC. We provide biblical instruction and worship for all ages.

Sunday School | 9:00 A.M – 9:30 A.M.
We offer two classes for Sunday School. A combined children/youth class explore biblical stories together in our Sanctuary. Additionally, Our Adult class meets at the same time just across the entryway in our fellowship hall.

Morning Worship | 9:45 A.M. – 10:30 A.M.
Our morning worship is a casual meeting during which we sing traditional hymns, recite the Lord’s Prayer, receive an offering, and hear a biblically-based sermon. We invite you to listen to some recent sermons to help acquaint yourself with our church. Sunday mornings we also occasionally celebrate the Sacraments of the Lords Supper and Baptism.

Bible Study | 5:00 P.M. – 5:30 P.M.
This bible study is ideal for adults and teens who want a serious verse-by-verse study of the Bible. We generally study one book at a time and cover it from beginning to end. We are currently studying the book of Revelation.

What happens on Wednesdays?

Children’s and Youth Activities | 6:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M.
The children and youth generally leave the main church building and go to our auxiliary building where they split up for age-appropriate lessons, games, and other activities. Responsible adult leaders are always present.

Adult Lesson | 6:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M.
At the same time the Children and Youth are participating in their activities the adults remain in the fellowship hall after the meal and generally have a lesson based on a relevant topic.

What to expect

Common Questions

You will find our church to be a relatively casual worship environment. Most of our people wear comfortable clothes, so it’s not unusual to see jeans or t-shirts. However, some do dress a bit more formal. Feel free to dress however you prefer.
Not really? One thing we do that might be unusual to some is that we receive two offerings. The first one we receive is our main offering that goes to the general fund and helps us pay salaries and bills. The second offering we do is called a coin march in which we take up funds for our children's outreach activities. To make it easier to distinguish, a prayer is offered prior to the primary offering and it is followed by the Doxology.
Like many churches in the South you will find we don't have a traditional parking lot, just grass. Feel free to park wherever, we only ask that you try to avoid blocking the paved driveway.
